Once a client agrees to the estimate for a private wedding fireworks display in South Carolina, we begin the permitting and coordination process required to legally and safely conduct the show. The full process typically takes two to four weeks, depending on the location and the responsiveness of the local authorities and venue.
The first step is gathering all of the necessary event information. This includes the exact show location, the date and time of the display, the size of the fireworks show, and confirmation from the venue that fireworks are permitted on the property. We also review the site to ensure that proper safety distances can be maintained.
Next, we prepare and submit the permit application to the local fire marshal or authority having jurisdiction. In most areas of South Carolina, fireworks displays require approval from the local fire department or fire marshal’s office. The permit application usually includes a detailed site diagram, the fireworks product list, safety distances, operator licensing, and proof of insurance.
At the same time, we provide the required insurance certificate to the venue or municipality. Many venues request additional insured documentation, which must be issued by the insurance company before final approval.
After the permit application and insurance documents are submitted, the fire marshal reviews the paperwork. In some cases, they may request additional information or clarification about the firing location, safety perimeter, or setup area.
Once the permit is approved, we finalize the show design and schedule. On the day of the event, our team arrives several hours early to set up the fireworks equipment, establish the safety perimeter, and prepare the firing system so everything is ready for the scheduled display.
From the time the estimate is approved to final permit approval, the process typically takes 5 weeks, although some locations may approve permits faster depending on their requirements. They recommend a 60 to 90 day window at minimum for submitting permits for fireworks displays through the state and local jurisdiction
